Meet Ashley! This mom is full of spunk, happiness and most importantly amazing tips! She is killing it in the mom department. Meanwhile I can't get my toddler to keep his pants on! I am learning so many things about myself as a mom as I have the chance to interview others. The most important thing I have learned is that we are all in the same boat. Here is your Monday dose of Mom Crush!
Tell me about your blog…
My name is Ashley and I am a lifestyle blogger who focuses on life as a mother but also dipping into my passions- fashion and fitness! I am 21 years old with an almost one year old named Ryker! I’ll be getting married to my fiancé this year and we have so many adventures planned to share on the blog! I love all things beauty but definitely understand the #momlife a.k.a messy bun, sweats, and food all over you! I started my blog journey just 6 months ago when I realized how important it is to keep memories and reflect on this beautiful life.
I live in Kansas City where my little family and I enjoy local fun our town has to offer but also our many travels across the country!
"I love running and coffee with the occasional glass of chardonnay. Life is about balance, right?"
Your favorite blog post…
My favorite blog post is 'That One Time I Gave Birth' you can find it here.
I was so nervous to share such intimate details but I am so glad I did. I know a lot of loved ones enjoyed reading and feeling like they were a part of such a special moment and when I was pregnant I loved reading birth stories. It can be very reassuring and ease nerves to read about another woman's experience as you anticipate your own.
What is the best parenting advice you have ever received?
The BEST parenting advice I have ever gotten is in regards to sleep. It is SO important to get your little one on a schedule and do your best to be consistent. Our little boy was sleeping through the night at 1 month old and although we've gone through some rough patches... we can't complain one bit about having that first time parent exhaustion. We get a full 8-10 hours every single night! Hey, Im not braggin' just passing on the advice! Our night time routine looks something like this: relax with movie or music, bath time, jammies, night night book, bottle, BOOM ASLEEP!
What is the most challenging part of motherhood?
The most challenging part of motherhood is mom guilt. Constantly asking yourself, am I doing this right? Should I even go to lunch with this friend? Maybe I shouldn't workout because I don't want to leave them? Especially working mamas or full time students (like me) we can feel so guilty for leaving our babies. But remember, a happy mama is a good mama! We've got to take care of ourselves in order to be the best mothers we can be.
"So GO! Take 30 minutes to go on a run, take a night off and get dinner with your girlfriend, take 10 minutes to take a hot shower! Don't let mom guilt rule your life."
Funniest thing your kids have ever done?
There are so many moments when I wonder how in the world I got such a cute and silly boy. He is funniest when he starts to get sleepy. He literally thinks every single thing is hilarious. He laughs historically and it brings me to tears!
Top 3 Mom must haves?
1. Noise Machine - this has saved us!! Especially when traveling it is important for the kids to get their rest or dogs barking not waking them up.
2. A swing- especially for cranky newborns the swing gives them the motion they need to get to sleep and give mama a break!
3.Nose Freida- there is nothing worse than a sick and stuffy nosed baby or toddler!
What is something you do (or strive to do) for yourself?
Either workout or get a special treat which is either a coffee from a hole in the wall or a glass of wine at the end of the night.
"Being able to take time away and focus on my physical or mental health keep me being the best version of myself."
